When is an extractor not an extractor? When it’s designed by Faber…
Ever tire of the standard, the ordinary, the everyday? The cooker hood has existed in our consciousnesses as the eternal variation on stainless steel boxing with the occasional leap in standards of noise suppression or lighting to keep us enthused.
Until now, that is. The Just offices were recently galvanised by the announcement of the arrival of Faber’s innovative “uber-contemporary” range of cooker hoods for 2011. We’re constantly on the lookout for the exemplary, the standout products: if it makes us say “wow” instantly, it’s in, no argument.
The F-LIGHT range did just that. Drawing from contemporary design trends in home pendant lighting amongst many other influences, the Italian manufacturer has created products that defy pigeonholing: form does not always have to follow function when creativity is employed.
From the literally off-the-wall hoods that masquerade as light fittings to the positively space age, Faber has something for every lover of contemporary interior design. Some are wall-installed, but defy convention with their bold futuristic presence, a million miles away from the steel boxes we have come to accept as the norm.
As we have come to expect from Faber, each extractor comes with a whole host of features: electronic controls, three extraction speed settings, spotlights and grease filters.
All we can say is: if you love the distinctive and modern in your home, check these out!

SIEMENS AWARDED CARBON TRUST STANDARD
Siemens plc has become one of fewer than 100 companies in Great Britain to receive the desirable Carbon Trust Standard.
The award acknowledges the work the company has taken on to lessen its carbon footprint by five per cent every year since 2008 and demonstrates its genuine commitment to ongoing emission reductions.
A few of the projects which have made it possible for Siemens to get the Carbon Trust Standard include incentivising employees to choose low carbon cars along with the introduction of energy saving technologies - some of which are Siemens own technology - during building refurbishments, including lighting, heating and building management.
In the years ahead, Siemens plans to fund energy saving projects on its sites to a value more than £5 million using Siemens technology and innovation. Work includes lighting, sub metering, boiler optimisation and many other projects. The first phase of projects are being carried out at Siemens’ Oxford, Newcastle, Lincoln, Congleton and Wythenshawe sites.
Siemens meters and systems will be employed to gather and study the information gathered.

THREE NEW BIG CAPACITY ATAG DISHWASHERS UNVEILED
The three new built-in stainless steel dishwashers are the ATAG VA9611TT (17 place settings with four wash baskets), VA6611TT (16 place settings), and VA6611PT (14 place settings). All three dishwashers have a hidden electronic control panel with automatic programs designed to cut the dishwashers' energy and water use.
ATAG explain that sensors inside the dishwashers are able to detect the total size of the load and how dirty it is, minutely adjusting the amount of water, energy and heat utilised throughout the wash cycle accordingly.
Which? Magazine dishwasher expert Matt Stevens says: “We haven't tested the claims of ATAG’s latest dishwashers but any features designed to increase energy and water efficiency are a step in the right direction.”
“The ATAG VA9611TT's large 17 place setting capacity should suit large families and those who like to entertain at home on a regular basis.”
Here at Just, we’ve built up our selection of appliances with the ethos of ‘only the best make it in,’ so you can be assured that an appliance from us will be of nothing but the highest standard.
